In an important milestone for the cybersecurity project called “The Cyber Monitor” of the Bedrijvenkring Ondernemend Veenendaal (BOV), fifteen companies personally received their Cyber Certificate from Mayor Gert-Jan Kats from Veenendaal on Thursday. In addition to the companies in question and the Central Netherlands Safe Entrepreneurship Platform, representatives from the Ministry of Justice and Security, the municipality of Wijk bij Duurstede, Barneveld and Veenendaal were also present. The Cyber Certificate marks the companies’ efforts in the field of cybersecurity over the past few months.
“The Cyber Monitor gives organizations insight into basic risks regarding people and technology”
— Han Veldwijk from Lupasafe
The Cyber Certificate was awarded to the organizations in recognition of their involvement in the Cyber Monitor, an innovative project of the BOV, Lupasafe and the Municipality of Veenendaal. Participation in the Cybermonitor is free of charge for BOV members. By participating in this initiative, organizations and their IT suppliers gain continuous insight into cybersecurity risks in the areas of people, processes and technology, and can monitor their progress. The Cybermonitor offers a basic solution to make entrepreneurs measurably safer. Organizations that meet the standard for a period of six months receive the Cyber Certificate.
The Cyber Monitor provides detailed insight into cybersecurity risks in the workplaces of participating companies, allowing them to be managed effectively. This includes identifying vulnerable or unwanted software, as well as devices and smartphones that are outside of IT control, such as home computers. In addition, the knowledge of employees and the security of websites are also measured. The Cybermonitor dashboard enables management and IT partners to provide security solutions and identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
During the meeting in Veenendaal, those present had the opportunity to network with various parties and jointly celebrate the successes of the monitor. Veenendaal is taking a pioneering role in this with this groundbreaking solution. As PVO-Midden Nederland and PVO-Nederland, we are actively looking for opportunities to develop a similar initiative in other municipalities, so that even more entrepreneurs can benefit from the benefits of this innovation.
