Key findings from Lupasafe’s first month of continuous e-learning built with support from Mastercard Strive. Insights for Small businesses and their MSPs.

- Who’s doing better? Larger vs. smaller businesses
- Who’s taking part, and what are the scores?
- What are our improvements and next steps?

People are a cyber risk
Phishing and human error are the main reasons that over 40% of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) had a cyber breach last year.
Pilot phase results from 1200 employees in 23 businesses
Here’s what we found:
- Positive engagement: We got lots of great feedback from our clients, stating clear learning goals, straightforward process and short but effective teaching elements. 38% of invitees participated in training.
- Larger businesses score better: On average, businesses scored 7.3/10 on phishing awareness, surpassing our target of 6/10. However, small businesses (fewer than 10 employees) performed significantly lower, with an average score of 4.59/10.
- Smaller businesses engage more: A greater proportion of small businesses users took the training but didn’t all score as highly. Simpler, more practical training will help.

Iterating for Better Results
Based on feedback, we’ve made updates to improve the training experience:
- Simplified Content for Smaller Businesses: We’ve added more concise modules and interactive elements to engage smaller teams.
- Sector-Specific Modules: To make training more relevant, we’re developing customized content for industries like healthcare, finance, and notaries. Interested in a specific training for your sector? Contact us!
- Better Engagement Strategies: We’ll implement stronger follow-up emails, incentives, and leadership engagement to increase participation across businesses of all sizes.
Looking ahead to 2025 and 2026: Next Steps
The Lupasafe team is committed to scaling our efforts and making further improvements:
- Expansion Plans: We’re targeting an additional 1,000 small businesses in Belgium and rolling out training to sectors like Transport & Logistics Vlaanderen and Mode Unie. The training will also be scaled to our collective partners such as BOV and EBC in the Netherlands.
- Continuous Improvement: Over the course of 2025 and into 2026, the platform will continue evolving with more personalized learning paths, additional training modules, and gamification features to keep employees engaged.

Automation and Compliance
Lupasafe’s elearning platform provides the knowledge and tools needed to secure operations using short videos and simple tests.
The automated training programme makes it easy for businesses and their MSPs to install and run, with clear, continuous dashboards of progress of learnings, risk, and where to support.
Teams are trained to ensure business cyber security and to meet EU regulations like Cyber Fundamentals and NIS2.

Cybersecurity is a journey – are you already on the path?
Cybersecurity training is not just a one-time task—it’s an ongoing process. By providing small businesses with the tools they need to secure their operations, we can foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness that strengthens resilience against cyber threats. As we continue refining our platform and expanding our reach, Lupasafe aims to empower more businesses to stay secure and compliant with evolving regulations.
Stay tuned for further updates as we work to build safer, more resilient organizations, one training session at a time.
